Knoty Knicks Breaks His Maiden in Impressive Fashion at Gulfstream Park

September 28 marked a breakthrough performance for Knoty Knicks, who powered to an open-length victory in a $70,000 maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park for owner REH LLC.

The bay colt, a son of 2021 Horse of the Year Knicks Go out of Cat Rags, was a $100,000 purchase by Dan Preiss Bloodstock at the OBS March 2-Year-Old in Training Sale earlier this year, where he was consigned by L.G.

Making just his second career start after finishing fourth on debut, Knoty Knicks showed his true potential. Under jockey Jose E. Morelos, he broke sharply to press the pace, settled just off the leaders, and when asked in the stretch, he shifted gears with authority. In a powerful display, he flew past the competition to draw off and win by 5 1/2 lengths going one mile and seventy yards on the all-weather track.
